EAA Chapter 59 Headquarters

and

Aviation Training Facility

On January 4th, 2005 the Building Committee presented a
proposal to build the Chapter 59 Headquarters and Aviation Training Facility in two phases.
It was the consensus of the membership, (taken through a survey) that we should build the meeting room section first and then add the hanger section when money and funding became available.

I made some sketches showing rough elevations and overhead views of the two phases of the project.
These drawings were presented at the chapter meeting mentioned above and I have posted them here for those who either did not attend or would like another chance to view them.

You can view the sketches and drawings by clicking on this link.

Phase 1 & 2 construction sketches.

Here's a sketch I did while trying out a new vector based illustration software package called Xara-X.
I like the rendering capabilities of the software, but the sketch is not necessarily to scale.
Now some picnic tables and some airplanes and we're set to go.

These sketches and drawings are just a preliminary concept of what we think the Training Facility might look like;
Now don't anybody panic, these are only my interpretation of some design ideas that have been discussed up to this point.

As usual you can click on any of the images to see a larger view.
However I should warn you that some of these images are quite large in file size and may take some time to load.
Also I suggest you have a very good graphics card in your computer, these images were rendered using a 1024x768 graphics resolution.

hanger-east.gif This view is the East end with route 84 to the left and the McGregor airport and runways to the right.
hanger-south.gif This is the view facing route 84.
hanger-west.gif The West end facing West toward McGregor.
hanger-floor-plan.gif This a a preliminary idea of a sample floor plan that we hope will support both the needs of the chapter and also provide enough open space within the heated and climate controlled portion of the building that it could provide the income and revenue stream that will be needed. Seminar rental space and room for club meetings as well as other public and chapter activities will play a large part in the use of the Facility.

These drawings were all created in Autocad R14 and then transfered to an images editor for rendering and translation into GIF file format.

kitchen

Here's a sketch I did of the hanger kitchen according to the architect.
There are two full sized ovens located in the center island on the other side from this view.

View facing west into the hanger area.
View shown without the doors in order to show the full width of the hanger.

conference room

This may give you an idea of what the conference room may look like.
Please remember, I'm a computer engineer, not an interior decorator. You pick your own colors.

Also please keep in mind that the conference room is actually 70 feet long by 40 feet wide.
That means we could fit several more tables than are shown here.

WARNING - VERY LARGE FILE

The BOD is looking into the idea of creating a road side sign to be located near the hiway at the McGregor airport.
If approved the sign will indicate that this will be the furure home of the EAA Chapter 59 headquarters and Aviation Training Facility.
Here is my latest rendition of what the sign might look like.

Please be warned that this is a very big file and may take some time to down load if you are working on a slow computer or modem connection.

The version posted here has been squeezed as much as possible for the internet and does not show the real color quality required for actual sign printing.

I've created a small gallery of photos taken of the proposed site with the help of Dick Wales and his helicopter.
