Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 59 hosted a visit from National
EAA leaders to present a program for our local Region 12 teachers. Dr.
Lee Siudzinski and Michelle Robbins came to Waco, Texas to explain the
AeroScholars program to local teachers and administrators.
We were honored to have 7 teachers and two administrators from the Region
12 Central Texas area at the meeting. The program started at 9 AM and
the presentation was completed by our regularly scheduled Lunch Bunch
start time of 11:45.
Dan McKee, Executive Director for the Central Texas Flying Club, picked
up the tab for all the AeroScholars folks to eat lunch with the Chapter
59 members. The Central Texas Flying Club also helped make this a memorable
trip for the visitors by meeting and paying for our presenters at the
IHOP restaurant for breakfast as well as a steak dinner at the Texas Roadhouse
restaurant for the National EAA AeroScholar leaders, key Chapter members
and some of our Region 12 partners.
Dan created a favorable opportunity for the visitors by providing the
opportunity for the attendees to fly with local Chapter 59 pilots using
our hangar as the starting point. Orlan Scott, Boyce Vardiman and Monty
Suffern flew the visitors during the afternoon from the McGregor Executive
Airport.
The presentation was thorough and well done. There were a lot of probing
questions and a real desire to get more involved with the AeroScholars
program. Judy York, Region 12 Science and Math. coordinator, is actively
planning her next step to get more of the Region 12 teachers the information
Lee and Michelle presented at the meeting.
